Thanksgiving

This is my favorite time of year:  I love to eat, so a Holiday like Thanksgiving, which is centered around eating, for me is great.  Also, football:  finally I get to watching Thursday football without relying on someone who has the NFL network!  But it is also cool to make a list for some things for which I am especially thankful.
One thing I am thankful for is the way God has worked it out to bring along to Restore the type of leaders I get to serve with each week in Student Community.  If it were not for them the experience of Student Community would look vastly different.

I am thankful for these leaders who have seen needs and tackle them.  It's so cool how Jess Barton and Ali Neibling are tutoring kids and helping with homework each Thursday after school.  I love how Kara Minton, Nancy O'Connell, Jess and Ali have started the every other Thursday girls group.  I am impressed at Josh Miller and Nancy giving their students "nicknames" and then actually somehow remembering them all each week.  I'm inspired by Nick Barton who is giving up time each week to meet with Travis Jackson and Josh Miller to help develop them into student community leaders.  I love how Jake McMahon is meeting each week with a fellow class mate to help disciple him.  I love Shane Enloe's willingness to be so open to coaching and feedback and his service to both YoungLife, Wyldlife and Restore.  I am so excited about how Alan Dietrich is investing his time and energy into leading a group of juniors and seniors in high school that may have gotten overlooked otherwise.  I am amazed at Dave Bleier's willingness to serve wherever and whenever it is needed.  I am thankful that each Sunday I get to serve beside each of them.

Junior High Camp, June 30th-July 5th

The colder it gets the more and more excitement builds in me for summer.  And with summer comes one of the favorite joys of my job: CAMP!  Right now we are caught in the midst of planning for launch of Restore Community Church as well as the preparations of Restore Student Community: Jr High going to camp.  This year we will be loading up in vans and driving to western Illinois for a week long festival called Cornerstone.  This is a combination of camping, sports, concerts and speakers designed to grab kids for the glory of Jesus.  Though we are still working to firm up all the details on things such as exact cost and days and time for departure and return, I wanted to begin spreading the word about this awesome experience for Junior Highers.  More info to follow, but for more details or questions, email me, josh@restorecc.org...

Bowling Updates!

Due to some unforeseen events, we will be switching where we will be having the Junior High Bowling event.  We had previously said it would be at Gladstone Bowl, but it will now be being held at AMF Northland Lanes from 11:30 to 2.  Pizza will still be provided (free) and we can bowl until our arms fall off (or 2pm, which ever comes first).  The address is 217 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City and it is right across from the Price Chopper.  Plan to arrive at 11:30 with an appetite.  Pizza should be there by noon.  Bring friends, neighbors and any random people off the side of the road, but most importantly bring yourself!!  Look for a flyer in the mail (if I have your address) at the start of next week...
